Evil Dead 2 - Patreon Version

Happy Halloween everyone! 🍁🎃🍂
We hope you're all enjoying yourselves this Halloween - getting your fill of tricks AND treats!
Tis the season for more spooky movies! Evil Dead 2 was soooo much fun! I don't know how, but I think it was even more creative, funny and wild than the first one. We both love Bruce Campbell so much, and this director's style is amazing! We just can't get enough ❤️

Thanks for the feedback! Our lights are diffused, but we also just got a different set up and are still playing around with them, so we'll try making them softer!

Chandra

I'm so sorry it wasn't syncing up well!!

Chandra

Every reactor goes through sync issues every now and then. 👍

Thomas Yanez

Thank you for explaining this! I'm really sorry it wasn't syncing up well... We'll make sure to watch versions that are more common from now on!

Chandra

For years the only Evil Dead film I saw was Army of Darkness as well. Wasn't until a couple years ago with reaction channels did I see these 2. Can't wait for Army of Darkness!

Wade Wallenstein

Ash vs Evil Dead is great. I hope they do watch it eventually. They would love it.

Ah, that totally makes sense. I *am* in North America and was streaming from Amazon Prime, so probably not a PAL thing. That being said, I will say that my copy got out of sync repeatedly over the course of the movie and def felt like more than a 10 second total difference. After the first couple of times that Chandra reacted to something before it happened on my screen, I started adjusting every time I noticed their shots changing before mine in an attempt to keep it as close to in-sync as possible. Bc of that, I don't have a good sense of how much more, but it was def not just 10 secs. Either way, I still enjoyed the reaction so, y'know, no harm, no foul.

Funk McPuke

yep thats right but im glad that he did the rewrite cause i cant stomach the 1st one

After you guys see "Army of Darkness" I hope you will consider the three short seasons of "Ash vs Evil Dead". Sam and Bruce are back with more of the same and every bit as over the top gory and funny as "Evil Dead II" and AOD and even more polished than AOD. It really is a love letter to the fans of the trilogy.

Thomas Yanez

Omg seeing this at 12 years old would have been too much for me lol

Chandra

Huh, that sucks he didn't own the rights to the first one!

Chandra

That's so fricken cool!!

Chandra

Oh! I'm so sorry, we can absolutely start doing that!

Chandra

For anybody with synch issues - the "remastered" version they are watching was rendered at a straight 24 FPS, instead of NTSC standard 23.976, which a lot of us (and streaming sites) will have since it is an older movie. So, that is why it might be slowly getting out of synch for you. The FPS difference might seem tiny, but it's actually about 10 seconds difference over the length of the film, so eventually the synch difference will be noticeable. My original copies didn't sync, but I... uh, "found" a copy of the remastered edition (including the Studio C Anal logo at the beginning) and that version syncs perfectly for the entire duration. Or, you might have a PAL version (25 FPS), and the synch issue will be even worse, but that's what you get for not living in North America. :P

More Sam Raimi? If you want more pure Raimi do Darkman, and if you want Raimi collabs you can't go wrong with Crimewave and The Hudsucker Proxy (both collaborations with the Coen brothers, yes the pair you're thinking of). Also, just out of pure curiosity are you guys using raw lights on yourselves or is your diffusion layer(s) just really weak? It's not that distracting from the videos or anything but a softer light would read better on youtube in particular and it may even be quite a bit cooler for you two while filming.

This is one of those movies where it would be EXTREMELY useful if you gave the runtime of the version you were watching. In general, it'd be nice if all reactors did that, but we take what we can get.

Thomas Yanez

Sam Raimi directed all of the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man (2002, 2004, 2007) trilogy.

I can't wait for y'all to see "Army of Darkness." Obviously, I won't spoil anything for Chandra (or for Jordan, since he mentioned not remembering much of it), so I'll just say that Ash continues to evolve as a character, the vibe of the franchise continues to evolve from horror to comedy, and both are awesome. Btw, I'm not sure where you guys are watching your movies but, if you wouldn't mind, could you maybe put wherever you're streaming each movie from in the descriptions or in your intro? Most of the time, if I can't find the movie on Netflix or Max, I end up watching on Amazon Prime. Usually that's fine, even if I can tell by having more/fewer production company logos than your copy that I'm streaming from somewhere different than you are (I just sync up to when the final one fades out and that generally works well). But, for some reason, the version of Evil Dead 2 on Prime -- which is what I streamed -- seems to be running at a slightly different speed than wherever you were streaming from and I kept having to adjust and re-sync throughout the movie. Your copy kept creeping ahead of mine until we were out of sync enough that you were reacting to things before they happened on my screen. I'd pause you for a second, re-sync us up, and then, a few minutes later, we were noticeably out of sync again. Tbh, it made it a tough watch because I ended up watching your blurry mini-screen a lot to see if the shots were changing at the same time as mine so I could judge when to pause and re-sync. If I had known where you were streaming the movie from, though, I probably would've just streamed from the same place. If there's some "internet weirdo" or "not a sponsor" reason I don't know about for not saying where you stream a particular movie from, no worries. It doesn't happen often enough to make it a pressing issue. But, if there's not a reason not to, I'd appreciate it.

My favorite part is Ash going crazy, the deer laughing at him, the infected hand being a little terror - this is exactly how Evil Dead should have remained instead of the direction the 2013 and 2023 films go

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Nice! My favorite horror film, I first saw it when I was like 12 and it blew my mind lol.

Justin

i just watched the yt upload instead on the patreon cause i only watched it 2 days ago on someone else's channel this is a comedy horror and its a rewrite of the 1st Raimi didn't technically own any of the rights to his original film. He was unable to use any of the previous footage from The Evil Dead. Therefore, Raimi opted to reshoot his own recap of the first film.

My ex was in a low budget horror movie called Mindwarp (outside of the US it's named Brain Slasher) with Bruce in the 90s. It had a limited release on Blu-ray, luckily I found one. It's so horrible but in that campy way. To my buddies though (and me too) she was somewhat Holy because she knows Bruce 😂
