I have only gotten this far, so this may be addressed in your episodes ahead; this is a telling of true people and events. EVERY character you see in this series existed. Historian Stephan Ambrose lived next door to one of the men of Easy Company. He didn't realize this for years, until one day the Easy Company man (I won't spoil it for you now) started telling stories for the first time. From this backyard conversation, Ambrose interviewed as many Easy Company men that he could. These interviews became the book, "Band of Brothers", which became the series. The men you see being interviewed at the beginning of episodes ... they are the actual guys. Add the unofficial, 11th episode, "We Stand Alone Together", to your watch list for this series. It will deepen your knowledge of the real events. Keep remembering that while there is some Hollywood in this series and one BIG error, which you discovered in this episode, on the whole it is pretty accurate. One note from last episode... the German soldier with whom Malarkay was talking with ... the movie says they lived 100 miles away. The reality is that they both worked in the same town in Oregon - across the street from each other in competing companies - but never met. The writers did not think people would believe that truth, so the writers changed it to 100 miles away.

Oh my gosh, that's quite the mistake to make for the show. I'm so glad he lived ❤️ that's really sad his fellow soldiers also thought he had died.

Chandra

Apparently all the surviving members of Easy Company thought he had died, and were devastated to find out all those years later that he had lived and they'd never invited him to the reunions.

Band of Brothers incorrectly states that Albert Blithe died of his war wounds in 1948, in reality, he survived and fought in the Korean War. He actually died while serving in Germany of kidney failure and complications due to surgery in 1967. After the show aired and his son was made aware of the mistake, he provided documents to reveal the truth.
