That's a good reminder actually! Thank you!

You have to do Rocky 2 sooner rather than later. You have about nine movies in total for this, and this set of movies almost always gets better and better. Some are good, some are mid, and one is bad, but all are worth it.

Another fun fact others may have already told you about this film. In the scene where Rocky tells Apollo's promoter that the poster of him is wrong, he says his shorts are supposed to be white with a red stripe, not red with a white stripe, which is how they are on the wall. This happened because the person in production who created the poster got the colors backwards for real, and rather than fix the goof, they rolled it into the film. Stallone was never a boxer, but this movie, and Stallone, are both credited for making boxing as popular as it is today, and a lot of people became boxers because of the Rocky films. There is so much to love about this film. I adore Rocky as a character. He just oozes charm and every man charisma, but without even trying. His relationship with Adrian is perfect. Micky is an extremely well written character, and although I don't like Paulie, we aren't supposed to, and he is also well realized. Plus the whole movie just feels so real. There is an authenticity to it you just often see anymore. When I watch Rocky, I feel like I'm there. I can smell the raw meat in the shop. I can smell the sweat at the gym. This whole movie feels like you're just watching a man live his life on the streets of Philly, and all they did was let a camera follow him. We are there with him. This is Rocky's world. We're just living in it. Yes, all the Rocky movies are worth watching. I personally see 1 and 2 almost as one film in two parts. A lot of people don't like 5, and I guess I get why, but I enjoyed it, and you do have to see it as part of the whole. I left out a few action flicks on my list under your Die Hard reaction. I'd add them there, but Patreon has a habit of eating comments when you edit, and I don't want it to disappear. First Blood - the first movie in the Rambo franchise, which I mention here because it's a massive classic that stars Sly. I'd skip the others, though that's just my personal preference, and others may feel differently. The Long Kiss Goodnight - lesser known action film, starring Gena Davis The Bourne Identity - the second and third films in the Bourne franchise, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, are also great. There are two more, which I have never seen, but I've been told The Bourne Legacy isn't great, while Jason Bourne, the latest one, is supposed to be back on form.

It's awesome hearing all the sequels are beloved! We definitely want to continue watching them for the channel. We both went into this one knowing nothing about boxing haha, so yeah a lot really surprised us! And thank you for the movie recommendations!

Another great watch along. I find that when you know nothing about boxing, you get far more invested in the actual fight and Rocky's pain and determination to go the distance resonant more. You both seemed so surprised to see how long Rocky had to endure Apollo's attack and the brutality of cutting the swollen eye was. It was a joy to see y'all getting sucked in. Adorable was used alot during this reaction, but it's true. This story works so well because we love who Rocky is right from the start. We want to see him succeed, not just in the fight, but with Adrian, whom you'll come to find out is truly the heart of this franchise. I highly encourage you to watch the rest of the films, all the way through the 6th film Rocky Balboa. All the sequels, sans Rocky 5, are terrific in different ways. If you want another Stallone suggestion, Cliffhanger is a great one, as is Copland. My favorite boxing movie you should consider is Cinderella Man starring Russell Crowe. It's also based on a true story.

I love all of that so much! You'd never know from how professional and well made everything feels.

Rocky is one of the greatest Underdog stories! I grew up watching Rocky 1-5 so I know those the most. Some fun trivia: Most of the scenes of Rocky jogging through Philadelphia were shot guerrilla-style, with no permits, no equipment, and no extras. The shot where he runs past the moored boat for example, the crew were simply driving by the docks, and John G. Avildsen saw the boat, and thought it would make a good visual, so he had Sylvester Stallone simply get out of the van and run along the quays, while Avildsen himself filmed from the side door. A similar story concerns the famous shot of Rocky jogging through the food market. As he runs, the stall keepers and the people on the sidewalks can clearly be seen looking at him in bemusement. While this works in the context of the film to suggest they're looking at Rocky, in reality, they had no idea why this man was running up and down the road being filmed from a van. During this scene, the famous shot where the stall owner throws Rocky an orange was completely improvised by the stall owner, who had no idea that a movie was being filmed and that he would be in it.
