Alien (Theatrical Cut) - Patreon Version

Hi everyone! It's horror time again... but this time in SPACE! A few of you said that this was your all time favourite horror movie and I can see why now. We both absolutely loved it! So as always, thank you so so so much for suggesting and voting for us to watch it! I know there's a second one that's also well regarded, so I'm super excited to watch that one too eventually!

I love how you said the design of the Alien is scary, but also somehow beautiful. I never thought of it that way, but you're so right! Also, I can't believe they MADE an animatronic alien... that's so cool! I wonder if it's still hanging around somewhere in a warehouse! And thank you for the movie recommendations ❤️❤️❤️

Finally got around to watching this whole thing instead of just listening to your afterthoughts. What a fun reaction! When Chandra said, "That looks like the alien head," and then it turned out to be the alien head, I laughed so hard. Brilliant creative choice there. This is another one of those movies with an incredible tagline that, like with Independence Day, has always stuck with me: "In space, no one can hear you scream." I love the effects in this film, but I particularly like the design on the Xenomorph (the alien's large form). It's scary, but it's also kind of beautiful, with how sleek and smooth the head is, and how efficient it is as a predator. Haha, I know, I sound like Ash, way too fascinated with such a terrifying thing. Since you guys were asking how they made the alien look so good and how it moved and stuff, that was mostly achieved with practical effects--with an animatronic alien, I believe. This came out in 1979. That they could do things like that and make it look so real back then just boggles the mind. Several things were done in the scene to help it look more real, like keeping it mostly in the dark with only flashes of light, keeping the alien's coloring dark or black, and giving it a metallic appearance that helped it stand out in the bright flashes or the low lighting. They also rarely showed the entire thing at once, and kept the shots that did show it few, and brief. They did an amazing job, and keeping it mostly practical is why it still holds up today. Oh, since you were looking for other movies that have effects like that, and also for a movie that has a group of people fighting scary things, I'm going to repeat a recommendation I gave in that list of movies I sent. You guys really need to see Jurassic Park. I won't say more on that one, because I don't want to spoil, but that movie is so far up your alleys it's not funny. Also, also, another thing, because you asked. There are no movies with an alien Santa, as far as I know (LMAO), but how about a very different, badass Santa? You guys might want to check out Violent Night. I've never gotten around to seeing that one, but I've heard a lot of good things about it, and it sounds like something you'd love. The poster is awesome, and yes, you can look at it without spoiling, although I wouldn't go any further before watching it. I won't say anything more on it, so you can be surprised, but if you watch it, I'd be down for it.

Raven Dark

I just watched this on YouTube cos I don't have the theatrical cut. I enjoyed the edited version anyway. It was nice to see you both. This was the first day since I joined that I had any time to watch you... and I watched you on YouTube lol. Oh well, I had a lot of fun and I enjoyed your company and that's what it's all about. Thank you both.

Oooh! We're planning on watching Starship Troopers soon actually!

When I saw the Alien for the first time I was very terrified, I still remember the scene where the Facehugger jumped from the egg, I jumped from my seat 😂. I hope you guys get to react to Aliens it’s very good I like it more than the first. One of my faverite ‘Special Effects’ film is Starship Troopers it was made late 1990s or The Fly 1986.
