2024-02-21 19:04:48 +0000 UTCI have two film suggestions that feature Ellen Burstyn in the lead roles - "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" (1974), directed by Martin Scorsese, and "Resurrection" (1980). Neither of these are action films but feature strong female characters trying to make their way in the world on their own terms. These films don't top anyone's list of reaction requests but something you might want to check out for the great performances.

Other roles that come to mind: Angelina again in ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ and ‘Salt’ and ‘The Bone Collector’ (not action but a strong role IMO) All in ‘The Descent’ Saoirse Ronan in ‘Hannah’ Gina Carano in ‘Haywire’ Geena Davis in ‘The Long Kiss Goodnight’ Mira Sorvino in ‘The Replacement Killers’ Milla Jovovich in ‘Resident Evil’ franchise Kate Beckinsale in ‘Underworld’ franchise That should keep you going for a bit (unless you’ve already seen them all)

2024-02-11 13:06:35 +0000 UTCHi guys. I just joined your Patreon and was in the mood for a fun 2000s action movie and this hit the spot perfectly. I was happy to see it was the original rather than the more recent reboot. I didn’t hate that one but just didn’t really connect with it despite being a huge fan of the later game trilogy (I too was predominantly a bow wielder). I had a ton of fun revisiting this one alongside you both. The opening scene perfectly encapsulated the OG Lara with the dual pistols and backflipping. I also played some of the original game and the movie did a great job of connecting fans to it. I think it’s fair to say they included quite a bit of…er… fan service throughout 😁. I actually enjoyed this more rewatching it than I did 23 years ago. I’m now so used to modern action movies I really enjoy watching older ones. There were so many epic action shots and locations. Also, thanks for highlighting the physical sets, it made me appreciate them even more. It was great seeing Chris Barrie again (the butler), he’s best known for his role in the British sitcom Red Dwarf - definitely worth checking out in your spare time. I’d actually completely forgotten Daniel Craig was in this. I will however admit I had not forgotten how good Angelina Jolie looked 😁. With a naked Daniel Craig though, plenty of eye candy for everyone. Regarding original games, this is perfect timing with Tomb Raider I-III remastered releasing in just a couple of days.
