GOOEYCANDY Newsletter & Updates! 🍀 [MAR2025 - Issue #06]: "March of Merch"

Welcome back for another Gooeycandy Newsletter, where you get up to date with ALL things gooeycandy! Let's dive right in!

🎨 Art & Project Progress:

This past few weeks I've been trying to just create a lot more Merch for the upcoming convention, so I've been tapping into old work and ideas, but first, here's some of the new stuff!

• "Grindr"-esque Stickersheet: I'm working on a simple stickersheet that's supposed to resemble the Grindr grid, with some cute holo squarish stickers of anonymous men. I thought it would be cute! The final sheet will have 12 stickers!

  

• Lenticular Cards: I've been wanting to make some of these for the longest and finally got around to sketching a few out. These are those little cards that are animated when you turn them in your hand. And make the funny noise when you scratch them. Anyway, here's the most far along one:

  

• D!sney Men Buttons: I decided to repurpose these old drawings of Herc and Tarzan I love into heart buttons like the Bowser one from last Newsletter! They will also have add-on buttons 👀. Also working on a 3rd "Flynn Rider" one and maybe even a fourth D!sney guy if you guys would want that! And if so, who?

  

• Enamel Pin Designs: Decided to take some favorites of mine and make them into pins. Still trying to find the right manufacturer, tho! There's also another pin design I'm working on, but until I know I can pull it off, I'll hold off on showing it! But it's COOL I SWEAR!

  

• In case you missed it: The Bolin "Nuktuk" remaster was also completed, and the prints are now in my shop! Working on making him into a sticker, as well!

• Project "BRO": Slow and steady work is being made here, but this is a project best kept a secret until more is available to show!

• Hands On! Progress: My last meeting with my programmer was this past Wednesday! 😢 The meeting went really well and he caught me up on everything I need to know to pass the torch to whoever comes next!

  Unfortunately, this does mean Hands On! progress will slow until I can find someone new to work with. Also I'll likely be prioritizing stuff for the convention first!

🔎 Current Focuses: 

• Barapalooza (the Mexico City convention I will be attending in June) is my current main priority. Conventions are SO MUCH WORK 😩 so just expect a lot of random Merch updates soon.

• The "Best Of Gooeycandy (2018-2024) Art Book" has been getting a bit more progress! I've been considering Kickstarting it to test how that goes before I use Kickstarter for future projects, and also so I can offer fun perks like stickers and stuff!

Life is hitting me like a TRUCK 🚚!!! Feeling overwhelmed in almost every aspect of my life, but GOTTA KEEP ON TRUCKING!! 🚛!!!!

I've kind of fallen off of my working out and meal prepping mojo lately, which is de-motivating... BUT. WRITING THIS RIGHT NOW, I feel like is helping me wake up a bit. Just because you fell off a horse doesn't mean you can't get right back on, right? There's no horse reboot period!! So I think I'm just gonna try to fake it til I make it this upcoming week.

And now to Gooey with the sports: still tied for 1st in Dodgeball, the finale bracket is on Monday, so if my team wins, I get a shitty dollar store medal and a shot of Fireball (I am actually really really hoping I get the medal).

🎥 NOW WATCHING: Severance, White Lotus, Finished Traitors US

I'll try not to spoil but just in case, avoid if you aren't caught up!

Survivor: Ahhh, my favorite show is back on TV. This seasons off to a calm start. I hated how chance based the recent vote off was, but that's just how it goes sometimes. I usually get more invested by the merge, so time will tell.

Severance: I'M NERVOUS ABOUT THE FINALE, I hope we're not left with a HUUGE cliffhanger again (we will be). I won't spoil but for those who haven't seen it please, please check out this masterpiece of a show.

White Lotus: Ok finally started this show and I'm already caught up to season 3. It's so fascinating how this show captures the vibe of vacation but also eavesdropping? Season 3 I've only seen the first episode, but it's looking interesting. The location is gorgeous... makes me wanna travel.

Traitors US: Dare I say that was a perfect season of television? I'm really happy for (some) of the winners! They really deserve it! Can't wait to see what the next cast will look like!
