[Question!] Trading Cards
Added 2024-03-21 23:32:00 +0000 UTCHey! My shop has been a big success and I can’t thank you all enough! By far the most popular product has been the “Poké-men Cards”. So I would like your input going forward!
I’ve considered designing my own back to the cards, as well as making the border myself to avoid future copyright issues.
Making them look less like the real thing would also shorten the process of making them, meaning I could design more cards + ship much faster, as they are currently the main reason shipping takes so long.

For now I’d like to know, how important is it that the Poké-Men cards look just like real Pokémon cards?
Comments
As of right now the process is a bit complex. It involved printing the front on Holographic paper and attaching it to a real card + trimming the edges off with a boxcutter. If I had my own back I could simply print double sided and cut with my silhouette machine

2024-03-22 18:50:25 +0000 UTCI'm down either way! I think while the Pokemon branding adds to the novelty, keeping yourself safe legally is a priority. Regardless of what you go with, I think it'll look great. I have a question, though, how do you print them? I'm interested in making some for myself and was wondering what materials you're using

2024-03-22 02:18:32 +0000 UTCI'd love it if the Pokeball on the back was like a sexy pair of balls maybe bulging out of a speedo or something. Like a clear reference but still fair use.

2024-03-22 02:16:52 +0000 UTCit’s probably best to avoid having nintendo or the pokémon company cumming after you heh 💦 i’d steer clear of very explicit references to the trading card game outside of the sexy men used, to be on the safer side :)

2024-03-22 00:44:10 +0000 UTCIt's cool that they could look like actual trainer cards but you could definitely personalized them to be more you if you want. All my cards go in sleeves so the back could be anything you want in my opinion

2024-03-21 23:58:50 +0000 UTCI feel like to protect them a lot of people are going to have them in sleeves, maybe keep the realistic backs just for the playable cards and have the rest be your own/simplified design? I'm imagining it like how in the anime Yu-Gi-Oh cards are just brown with a black circle while the IRL cards have the swirl design, simplified like that.

2024-03-21 23:37:52 +0000 UTCIt’s cool, but at the same time I would be interested in what fun stuff you could come up with. Maybe have the standard stuff as an option for those that want to play with them.
