The Walk
Added 2020-08-06 00:48:43 +0000 UTCThis morning, I made this impromptu little piece during my sunrise walk to test out my iPhone 11 Pro and Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal.
Ultimately, I want to make a short film for my HUSK masks, but trying to shoot with a full gear setup by myself with no crew seems a bit daunting, so I wanted to see what I could do with the just the iPhone, the Filmic App and my Osmo Mobile 2.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results. This was shot in 4k at 240fps which gave it a great smooth feel to everything (though I still had to do some minor Warp Stabilization in post). This is also the first time that I utilized S-Curves while color grading, which I think went a long way to giving the footage a cinematic vibe.
This was shot at the North Chagrin Reservation about 30 minutes northeast of Cleveland. We had never hiked this trail before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. While it's not my favorite trail (that'd be the Virginia-Kendall Ledges, which I hope to film soon) it still proved to be absolutely gorgeous in the early morning (it was about 6am when I shot this).
I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with a little prep and planning in the future!
