"Husk" is my latest personal series featuring masks I've handmade. I'm not 100% sure where this series will eventually be collected (there's talk of a "Quarantine Magazine" one-off that I may do with fellow photographer Kyle Cassidy) but in the meantime, I'm having a blast shooting them.
Originally, "Husk: Mother" was shot on an empty suburban street here in Cleveland in the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately, I wasn't super happy with the results. I re-crafted the mask and brought the idea into the studio for a portrait version, which I'm much, much happier with.
Once again, the post-production video has no voice-over but I'm thinking of adding a voiceover to future BTS videos. Which would you prefer?
Moving forward, I'm going to do some (narrated) post production videos on some older images that I want to re-do colors and retouching on, as well as a video that takes you through the entire "Husk" process--from the making of the mask, to the photoshoot and on through the entire post production phase. Keep an eye out for that in the next month or so!
