I never thought about Hunchback much until watching y’alls viewing of it and her insight on the music made me appreciate the movie so much, hearing her talk about this as well has been such a treat. Lion King is my favorite movie and I would LOVE to hear her talk about its music.

2024-07-30 01:19:22 +0000 UTCThis is my favorite movie ever! I can say every line and sing every song verbatim from beginning to end. Something to note, regarding the hardening of Ramses’ heart, my interpretation has always been not that God himself hardened his heart, but that Ramses was so prideful that he grew colder and colder in response to the plagues and the show of God’s strength and wrath and that he was powerless to do anything to stop any of it on his own. I don’t think it’s supposed to be taken literally that God actually hardened his heart and took away his freedom will. The Bible is filled with many allegories and the text itself as many times as it’s been transliterated, I do not think majority of it is to be taken at face value without studying or mediating on the verses more in depth. I believe there is a lot that the church or religious leaders preach and try to teach on that are actually very far removed from the actual teachings and meanings the text and Bible is stating or intend, but because they have their own agendas to push ideals and beliefs that reflect their own, that is why you have a lot of religious figures saying obnoxious things like homosexuality is an abomination and perverted or things like that when, in my opinion, that is not what is true but again, aligns with their own personal dogma. That is just my belief as a Pentecostal Christian my entire life. But this movie still is my all time favorite movie!

2024-07-29 18:21:55 +0000 UTCI don't mind the melding of CG with 2D when it's done well, like with this and Treasure Planet. Anime for the past ten years has been overrun with awful CG elements that boggle the mind. I get why they do it, it's "cheaper" and the artists are already overworked, but it kills me every time I see it. Seeing this movie again brings back that appreciation for hard work, complimented by well-implemented CG that merely assists the visuals. It's the same as visual effects replacing all special effects, or the smart combination of the two in live-action movies. On another topic, I think it'd be cool if you did a deep dive of music in animated movies with Pumpkin.
