Seeing that Jin Kim worked on this is super interesting, I had no clue. I adore him for his Frozen work especially as I know he pushed for the indigenous authenticity of HoneyMaren & the Northuldra in racial design of the Sámi. This movie specifically was fucked over by the marketing and it’s such a shame! 🙁

It was rather unfortunate that Red Shoes had some poorly-thought out marketing in the form of that fat shaming poster-which, based on the video, certainly had plenty of people up in arms-because the movie itself looks better than it has any right to be. Sure, it might not be of the same level as a Disney or Pixar movie, but from the looks of it, the animation, characters, and storytelling make this the ideal film for people looking for a good alternative to the more popular animated movies out there. Most important of all, the movie's message-that it is not external beauty, but internal beauty, that shapes who you are-can really resonate with people. Who you are on the inside, rather than the outside, should always-and I mean ALWAYS-be the most important characteristic of any person...I only wish that every person in the world would take that message to heart like I always have.
At any rate, you, Saber, have once again introduced us all to a movie that was better than you expected it to be, and one that I might one day check out if it turns up on streaming services. Bringing attention to these types of movies-and telling the story behind those movies (in this case, the controversial marketing behind Red Shoes)-is one of the many reasons why I love your videos so much, and why I have gotten into the habit of checking them out with all due speed. You've done a superlative job in covering this movie, and for that, I salute you!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Red Shoes with us all, Saber. Until the next video, stay safe, and take care! =)
