Elewder - 0.0.8 Coin and Key

Exciting new content fresh outta the build room is ready for you all to enjoy! As we get ever closer to being mechanics complete expect a whole lot of exciting new additions to the game, this month we took a crack at one of the most important elements, economy. Shops, coins, keys, items, exchange, etc. It will take a bit of time to balance, in fact, our plan is to do a sweeping balance pass once we have all 5 bosses in the game and have the game content complete. This means in the full game there is going to be a total of 15 floors to progress through before you will have completed one run.

Added:

• 6 additional floors of exploration added: We added the second main boss to the game, the water guardian! Her area comes complete with new looks, new rooms, and most importantly a new boss voiced by the lovely Pixie Willow.
• A fresh lick of paint: Check out the awesome new color scheme for the game, no more simple blacks, and texture colors, we have a whole new shader working to bring the world of Elewder together!
• Coin and barter: Currency has been added to Elewder! Now minions and simple chests will drop currency, using this currency you will be able to open other chests, purchase items and goods from the shop (found randomly on floors), and horde like the dragon you are.
• Great chest ahead: Items, HP, and collectibles are now found within chests in the rooms. The idea is that you won’t know what is inside without navigating over and opening. Brave those trap rooms!
• Under lock and key: A brand new system in place for this build is the key system. Doors can be randomly locked, along with chests. We even have a chest that will damage you a whole heart to open.
• A warlocks new duds: Currently we are transitioning our player model to match the unlockable character designs we have upcoming, so our ghost protagonist is getting a lot more detail. We are not happy with the current design so it will change in the next build.
• Minion booty claps: Enemies taking hits now has a visual effect, you will be able to see exactly when you’ve hit something and if it has taken damage.
• Now you’re thinking with portals: A brand new portal system for moving up floors, the design is a work in progress but it looks a lot nicer than the previous version.

Fixes:

• Modified how minions spawn when entering a room. No more backing out of a room once you’ve peeked inside.
• Modified projectile appearance to match the new color scheme.
• Modified the shop room layout to give a better visual indication of the items available for purchase.

We will begin working on the next month’s patch right away, but expect a focus on the transition between floors, the beginning concept of a meta-game (between run systems), a minimap overhaul, and a lot more.
