Friday Post #29 - A fire within your loins!

Progress is the name of our game, and it is a game we play well! Check out this week’s hotness!

Sapphire Safari
With the implementation of the locomotion animations and systems, we need for our first release Sapphire Safari needed to get an overhauled player character. For us, this was a unique opportunity to build another highly requested mechanic into the game, character creation! To do this we have created a base human model that with the help of blendshape configurations we can change the model from male to female or anything in the middle. We aim to allow for the customization of the skull shape, hairstyle, skin/hair/eye colors, eye types, and possibly some facial accessories like makeup, scars, or tattoos. It is very much in its basic form right now, but the fact remains that we can very easily add more blendshapes to the game allowing for some very unique player faces and styles.

Another issue we have firmly decided upon is how the user flow and sex mechanics will indeed work. Previously we had a full visible player model and some very limited IK interactions, basically, if you were in a doggy position your hands would only reach as far as the position would allow. Instead, we have removed the player model completely from the interaction and gone for a more “separated” approach. What this means if we take that same doggy position you will have a selection of tools (mouth, hands, genitals, toys, etc), and with those tools, you select where on the monster girl they will be active, so you can have standard doggy scene and use the mouth tool to kiss the monster girl during. All of this has a full 3d camera under the player’s control as well. It is a little complicated to explain, however along with the IK system you will have ultimate control over the scenes.

Elewder
Work has continued steadily into the next major build, which stated previously is related to the Coins, Keys, and Shops in-game. Part of this overhaul includes making new ways of tempting the player to give up their items in exchange for upgrades. So the underlying system of currencies has been spread amongst all the properties of the player, we can now use coins, metacoins, health, armor, items, keys, etc to open doors, chests, conversations, anything really.

And as such we spawned a devilish little contraption I liked to call the “Glory Chest”, it is a chest with a personality that is looking for a particular… meat… key to open her up. That’s right, by sticking your *cough* into the chest and losing some of your vitality you can possibly gain some treasure. It’s a nice little addition to the next patch of the game, something completely unexpected for sure.

Under Contract
Art production has officially begun and new characters will be finally added to the game with their full completeness. Levels are being blocked out, the gameplay is being corrected and the game is slowly coming together! I will post more on this once we have more of the game put together! Excited to show more!

Wet Nightmares
With our new team member joining in things are beginning to come together! We have solved a major issue holding back the production this week and the game is set up on our private host, and everyone can start working. The first operation is to dial in our first alpha release of the game on itch, this includes a demo for PC, HTML5, and Android. Once we have that we can release the alpha as it stands. Hopefully next week!
