Oh man, it’s not Friday but what about my Friday post?!? Sorry I got distracted with E3 streams.
Sapphire Safari
Forging ahead! This week we doubled down on pushing into the new direction for the game, our dreams of making this an open-world game is slowly coming together! First, we downscaled the island size and removed a few of the outside islands just to focus on the main island itself, downscaling means that instead of having a lot of dead and empty areas we can focus on POI and environmental storytelling. Indie as heck, I know. We also polished and smoothed over the surface of the level to make it far more traversable for both vehicle and player.
One of the bigger issues that will need to be addressed is the use of mass or flock AI in the game, making creatures react to the presence of the player and congregate in a believable manner. We have a few solutions we will be trailing once the basics are in place. Next, we continued with the IK toolset we need to build, this includes building splines to be dynamically created in the arms and legs of our monsters, these are used for smoothing out the petting, clamping, grabbing, rubbing animation for our player hands, so it’s nice and smooth. It also acts as a softbody IK so you can grab the limbs at any point and it will work nicely.
And lastly, in terms of assets being built, we finalized two new designs for the monster girl rework, which you will see a lot more of very soon.
Elewder
Working hard on the new big build of Elewder which is focused on creating new spells and weapons for the game. However, we did take some time to address the few missing features and issues from the last build of Elewder that carried over when the new models came in. We have a new build being put together now to address just those issues. It should be ready sometime next week.
Cosmic Harem
Documentation of the theme and direction for the game is underway, currently going back and forward on the main pillar of the game. Are we forging our own pathway or stay as close to the arcade roots as we can? Either way next week we will be starting our art focus push for the game as well. This should be a lot of fun, and we will finally have characters and a theme to talk about!
Wet Nightmares
A small setback this week with the main developer losing an unrelated HDD on his work PC, the game itself is getting a patch before we push it out to our audience to play the first chapter of the game. More information on this coming very soon!
