Patrons:
It's the middle of the month and time for a big post regarding a lot of different aspects of the game. Before getting into that though, let's welcome a slew of brand new individuals from the cockles of our hearts (we'll lure them in with kindness and them devour their souls, mwahahaha) ^_^ Please welcome the following individuals: Pavel S., Mr.Man, Ash, Kitten, Walter Merki and Will B. --- I bid you all warm welcome to our super awesome community!
And, if you all would, let's please take a moment to welcome back some previous patrons of the game: Monkshark and Locavera.
For those, whom are new and old. I greatly esteem your generosity. The fact that you pledge your hard earned cash toward the development of the game just speaks volumes about who you are as people (and no I don't mean pervs or anything) xD What I mean is, it takes a big person to support something they care about, especially in regards to entertainment. So the fact that you all have done that and support something you care about means that you deserve respect and gratitude.
I'm not about to waste that opportunity either, that's why I do this. To publicly recognize that kind of selflessness! So thank you all so much for donating on behalf of my family and I toward the game. I hope it continues to inspire such.
Anyway, I want you guys to feel like you can come to me for absolutely anything, so please, if you have any questions, concerns or critiques, suggestions etc, I'm very open to hear them. Heck, if you just want to have a shoot-the-poop conversation, I'm down for that too, especially around the holiday season. You guys are absolutely never a burden. So please feel free to contact me in whatever way is most convenient for you; Patreon, the Blog, Email, Private Message or Discord (which is probably the best way to get in contact with me immediately as I have it open 24/7). Here is a permanent link to it. https://discord.gg/y3V4hbN
Other than that, I should be sending out your "Benefit Emails" sometime today. It will contain all the codes you've earned and instructions on how to use them. If you have ANY questions at all about any of your rewards, please don't hesitate to ask about them and I'll be happy to explain or walk you through the process. Remember I'm here to serve you guys and I'll do so as well as I can.
I think that's about it regarding that!
In Other News/Progress Report:
You know, someone once asked me why I don't make "Patron's Only" posts and I have one good answer to that and I'll be asking fictional character John Hammond from Jurassic Park to assist me (with a bit of modification, of course: "This game wasn't made to cater only to the super rich. Everyone in the world has the right to enjoy these attractions." That's why.
And because it's cool, I'll borrow another quote from Aragorn from Lord of the Rings (which bears no relevance to the conversation at all): "A day may come when the courage of men fails and we forsake our friends and we break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashes down. But it is not this day. This day we fight. By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!" Ahem.
Thank you gentlemen, you may return to your fictional universes!
But really, let's talk about something a little more serious.
So far, there's been no change regarding the Save/Load Library Update for the Quest desktop (what my game is primarily on). Turns out while the online version is working fine and saving things to the browser, it was discovered that the desktop version was NOT. So saving the old way is still the only way to save the desktop version.
However, the library owner knows this and while there is no change YET---that doesn't mean in a week or two there won't be an alpha to try. If there's no change by the end of this month, I'll just hire a programmer myself. I know a website where I can find programmers looking for work so hopefully one of them knows all the languages necessary to create something of that magnitude.
As for the rest of the game, I've been pretty hard at work on it.
I've changed a bunch of internal systems so it runs easier and smoother with scripts that are less prone to error. With that said, there are probably some new ones but once they are dealt with we'll be much more error free and less prone to errors in general. I'm pretty happy about that!
I've also been working in my spare time to break up a lot of the bigger scripts which I've done for the Waterhole and with Hannah and Rold. I'll probably dab here and there on the Rolling Hills in the next week or two as well but these are just side things I'm doing to improve interactivity while I take breaks on the last conversation Remaster.
We also have several million bugs fixed; one of them literally took 16 hours (13 straight) of work. It was an absolute facking nightmare and I wanted to pull out all my hair. Ugh. You'll see the lovely details of that track-wreck in the next changelog.
But anyway, we have Callie's pictures finished for the caravan and Rowan's on the way. And the plan there is after knocking out the caravan group, we'll focus on the NPC cell inhabitants and then move onto the background of the house (probably just the more important rooms).
Other than that. Things are rolling right along! It's turning out to be a rather massive change-log coming----with more to be added! Keep an eye out!
THE POLL--------------------------:
I wanted one of the major aspects of this post to be the poll itself but honestly in comparison to the rest of what I talked about it's pretty trivial. But I would like some feedback. It may be my game but I'm not making it for me. I'm making it for all of you.
This poll is one of many that will help me determine what direction to a couple of minor aesthetics. This weeks is about the pictures in the game.
Now traditionally text based adventure games don't have a lot of pictures and even less contain music. There are a few rare exceptions, of course---mine being one of those few. In regards to pictures however, I figured that people are playing my game because they want a text adventure, not a Ren'py Visual Novel. But that doesn't mean they can't enjoy both aspects.
With that thought in mind, I figure I would scatter pictures throughout the game to help bring the adventure to life. But I didn't want these picture shoved down the player's mouth. Some like pictures, some would rather not have them. I think I'll go with the majority in this aspect but with that mind, no changes will be made if it's very close or a tie. In order for this change to be taken into affect I need a landslide victory in one direction or the other.
There are two possibilities. One: leaving the game as it is now regarding pictures and how they are used (meaning they only show up if you type "look" --- as in looking specifically at an object or room). Or two, they show up first every time and when you talk with characters.
1) Pictures Appear ALL the time; first when you enter a room and when you speak with characters.
2) Leave the picture how they are!
Comments
It wouldn't hinder development. Right now, I have them on a first-time nothing happens script but the second time, they show up. All I would have to do is copy or switch the else time to the first times. I might take maybe...a day of work at the most. ^_^ Anonynn.

2019-03-19 01:04:28 +0000 UTCIf having pictures all the time would hinder the development process I'd rather them stay as is, however, if having the pictures show up wouldn't negatively impact dev time then whatever the fates decide is cool.
