Inns, Taverns & Hotels

Ryokan

The Ryokan is an ideal stop for travellers on their journey. Although simple in its furnishing and appearance, a comfortable, quiet night is all but guaranteed. So much so that even families are known to frequent them, choosing to avoid the rowdier inns and taverns favoured by adventuring parties and other less savoury folks.

Okami Chiyo runs this particular Ryokan, and her dedication to hospitality and the comfort of her guests is unparalleled. She will go to any lengths to ensure all in her establishment get a hot meal, a relaxing bath and a good night’s rest. Those who get in the way of this endeavour are sure to incur her considerable wrath.

Streets & Paths

This week's map series is another set created in collaboration with Kobold Press.

This set includes 24 different 7x7 inch tiles depicting a variety of streets and paths. They can be used independently or placed side-by side to larger interconnected spaces.

Into the Wilds

Jungle Ruins Tactical Tiles 01 Complete Bundle

These are a set of jungle ruins tiles that can be quickly laid out to create some interesting tactical corridors and lines of sight that could be used for a larger skirmish or battle, a sneaky infiltration where your party have to avoid being seen, or a variety of spaces to explore.

Dresden’s Tower

Atop a mountain overlooking the nearby town sits the imposing tower of the Wizard Dresden. Although generally cold and unwelcoming, Dresden is well liked by the locals as he has been known to help them out on occasion when other avenues have failed. If the party really needs assistance, he may be open to hearing them out.

Nearing the top of the steep climb, a signpost stands by a bench and brazier. The message reads 'Please do not disturb. I am very busy.' Once the party have disregarded this message they will be greeted at the door by Dresden's assistant, a young female gnome by the name of Folxi. She looks terrified, but is very pleased to see the guests, ushering them in before they have a chance to introduce themselves. The wizard himself is slumped in a nearby armchair, clearly focussing on something intently, and does not immediately notice the newcomers.

Chena My'vatn - The Snowed Inn is run by Chena Mývatn. Her small stature and quiet nature bely an iron hard spirit. She knows many secrets about the special guests hosted at the inn, but it is her ability to keep and protect those secrets that ensures the continued prosperity of the establishment.

Arre Picaro - The ‘Gauntlet’ is an invite-only club for mercenary groups, vetted by the one and only Arre Picaro who was one of the best mercenaries in the city in her youth. Known by many as the ‘Queen of the Night’, Picaro has contacts in almost every major faction in the region and is widely respected by almost all of them, a reputation she works very hard to maintain.

Berun Kraghart - About halfway along the path from Myrr to Bharzul is Berun Kraghart’s Inn, dubbed by many as ‘Inn the Mountain’, a very welcome respite from the dark winding tunnels and dwindling rations. Visitors are treated to fine food and ale, regular performances and a soft bed. Those who visit at the right time of year might even get to experience the lantern fly mating rituals that light up the surrounding tunnels with dazzling displays for days on end.

A mature phase spider has claimed a remote cave system as her lair, drawn by a planar thinning created years ago by a wizard’s fatal experiment. As the creature prepares to lay her eggs, her hunting has grown increasingly aggressive, threatening nearby settlements and travelers.

The ghost of the dead wizard still haunts the caves, trapped between the Material and Ethereal planes, unable to find rest. Can the party navigate the web-choked chambers, confront the phase spider before her brood hatches, and perhaps grant peace to a tormented soul?

Beneath the ruins of a forgotten temple lies an ancient prayer-tracking facility dedicated to Dhetaos the Wishkeeper, a minor deity whose worship has nearly vanished. For centuries, the faithful servant Skuttilus has maintained the complex machinery that monitors prayers offered to his mistress, but time and neglect have finally taken their toll.

As the sacred mechanisms fail, Skuttilus faces both the collapse of his life's work and a crisis of faith that threatens his devotion. Can the party help restore the failing observatory, or will they witness the final extinction of a forgotten god's influence?

The Last Petitioner

Punch Drunk for 5e & PF2E

This entirely normal looking brown bottle is actually constructed from a special crystalline glass made to hold liquids with a decidedly more potent disposition. The cork that stops the top is held in with a twistable cage that takes a surprising amount of effort to undo the first time. A label is emblazoned across the exterior of the bottle with a printed logo identifying the drink as “Punch Drunk”.

Alemental for 5e & PF2E

Alementals are often belligerent creatures with little in the way of cohesive direction or thought. They often swing and sway from place to place seemingly seeking out others of their ilk or searching for a bar or tavern to be close to other substances of their type. They have a particular infatuation with seedy dives where the ale is cheap and plentiful. They've been known to work their way through sewer systems finding the source of alcohol that is poured into the drains over time.
