Ruins of Ostenwold

Church of the Everlight Ruins

Under Abbess Temerion the church was a place of sanctuary and peace for all, but it would be hard to believe that seeing it now. The belltower that sang out every morning has been sundered from the building, taking much of the rest of the structure down with it. The pews have been thrown askew and the once vibrant gardens have withered and died.

Even the crypts below have been ransacked, although on closer inspection this damage seems to have been caused by something else. Something more…feral. Whatever happened in Ostenwold seems to be far more than a bandit raid, it almost feels as though multiple evils have been drawn here at once, but why and by whom?

Ungrimst Townhouse Ruins

The former home of Gerome Ungrimst is in almost complete ruin. It is something of a miracle that any part of the structure is left standing. Large holes seem to have been blown out of the side of it, rubble and debris scattered everywhere. Not all the houses in the area have been as badly damaged, suggesting that this attack, if that is what it was, was targeted somehow.

There were rumours of family heirlooms being kept hidden within the property that had inherent magical capabilities. Perhaps that is why this house in particular seems to have taken more of the brunt of the destruction. It may be worth investigating for clues but take care. Any big movements or sudden shifts may bring the whole thing crashing down.

Angler’s Wharf

The Angler’s Wharf was originally a small dock for the Angler’s Guilds fishing vessels, with a marketplace for citizens to buy fresh fish the second it came ashore. Beside the dock was a long stretch of open water that was a popular spot for amateur fishermen and women to cast their line and spend a relaxing day looking out to sea.

During one lean winter when fishing was scarce, the guild was running out of money and sought a loan. The Banking Guild turned them down, so they were forced to look elsewhere and ultimately resigned themselves to doing business with the Shilby Corporation who owned a number of warehouses and other industrial buildings in the port district, but were known for having a large illegitimate empire as well.

The Shilby’s denied a loan, but offered to buy the land upon which the dock and market stood, with a promise that the angler’s dock would always be maintained. Now, less than a decade later, the wharf has grown to allow large trade vessels to load and unload cargo, scaring away the fish and lining the Shilby’s pockets while the Angler’s guild struggles to stay afloat.

Butterfly Effect Dagger

Dagger, Very rare (requires attunement)

The slightest change can send ripples through time and space altering the course of history. Those who understand cause and effect seek to exploit these mechanisms for their own means. This butterfly knife used to belong to one such creature and still vibrates with magical potential. While attuned, you have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magical weapon.

When you hit with an attack with this dagger, you can choose to mark a creature instead of dealing damage, leaving behind a seared scar that the creature is aware of, in the shape of a butterfly. At the start of your subsequent turns, another butterfly scar appears on the marked creature up to a maximum of 10. A marked creature only gains additional scars at the start of your turn, not from additional attacks.

When a marked creature starts their turn, you can take a reaction to flourish this dagger and cause the scars to rip open. The marked creature must make a Constitution saving throw where the DC is 8 + your proficiency bonus + the number of butterfly scars currently on them. On a failure, they take 1d8 necrotic damage per butterfly scar and are stunned until the start of their next turn. On a success, they take half as much damage and are not stunned. Afterwards all of the scars disappear and the creature is no longer marked. You can only mark one creature at a time and cannot move the mark.

Comments

I see, I guess I better look into this DungeonDraft app. Thank you!

Gregory

Hi Gregory, which set did you download? If you got the regular asset packs, they are just PNG image files and can be opened in any software that can read images. If you downloaded the DungeonDraft megapack, that only works in DungeonDraft

Tom Cartos

I don't know why, but I can't open the assets. Which app do you open them with?

Gregory
