Background

The Grand Western Station is the hub of all transport in the city. The station was originally named after the gnome engineer who pioneered the idea of an inter-connected rail system, Grun Woostrun, but over time has become better known as the Grand Western, in order to sound a bit fancier to tourists and visiting nobles.

The party have had a tip off that one of the larger crime syndicates in the city have been smuggling in contraband on the inbound trains, but so far have little idea of which train or how. They are not even entirely sure what the contraband is, but the city constabulary have posted a large bounty for any information or evidence that could lead to the arrest of the syndicates leaders, so it might be worth following up with a stake out to keep an eye open for suspicious activity.

Unbeknownst to them another group has received the same information and is also watching the station, and they are becoming more and more interested in the mismatched band who seem to be hiding in the shadows and making notes of all of the incoming and outgoing trains and their cargo.

Design Notes

Grand Western Station 01 Concourse

• 01 – Carriage Drop Off – Those who arrive or leave by carriage and stage coach use this entrance. It is also used for large cargo deliveries.
• 02 – Concourse – A large noticeboard updates magically to show the current schedule.
• 03 – News Kiosk – Newspapers from the surrounding cities are delivered on the first train of the day and can be purchased here.
• 04 – Shopping Kiosk – A range of supplies for those going on a long journey.
• 05 – Waiting Room
• 06 – Toilets
• 07 – Main Ticket Office
• 08 – Staff Office
• 09 – Pedestrian Entrance – Those arriving by foot or rickshaw generally use this entrance, and can purchase their tickets directly. This saves the wealthier passengers who arrive by stagecoach from having to be near the common folk.
• 10 – Rickshaw Stand – For a single silver piece the famous rickshaw runners will deliver you to anywhere in the city (tips greatly appreciated)
• 11 – Postal Office – Incoming and outgoing mail to the connected settlements is all organised and stored here.
• 12 – Confectionary Stand - Popular among children
• 13 – Train Platforms – The three platforms take passengers to and from all developed parts of the nation.
• 14 – Station Frontage – Many entrepreneurial types peddle minor wares and trinkets to tourists. Locals know to avoid this avenue.

Grand Western Station 02 Bridge

• 15 – Pedestrian Bridge – A popular gathering place for those welcoming loved ones home to watch out for the arrival of the trains.
