POLL - What should our next theme be?

August's maps sets will comprise of the competition winners commissions, and I have one or two collaboration projects I am working on that will come out in early September, but after that we will begin our next map theme as chosen by all of you!

There are four options to choose from, details are below. Those that don't get chosen this time around will roll over to next time, so we will get to everything eventually.

Leave any suggestions or requests for specific maps from your chosen theme in the comments section below, or over on the Battlemap Suggestions post.

The four themes are as follows:

The Frontier - Life is hard out on the fringes of civilisation, but that hardness both attracts and builds a certain kind of person, a certain kind of people. Exploration and innovation guide those pioneers seeking a new life out here on the edge, free from the strictures of society, but it is not without its own dangers.

This theme will include maps such as frontier town buildings, refugee settlements, bandit camps, border fortifications, transport hubs and more. Perfect for a campaign set in the Wild West or the Frozen North.

The High Seas - The world is more water than land, but much of it remains unexplored or at least unknown to most. Those lucky few who get to experience life on the seas know both the beauty and the peril that comes from such an existence.

This theme will include maps such as new ships and boats, hidden coves, underwater worlds, pirate settlements, floating villages, island fortifications, shipwrecks and more. Perfect for a seafaring campaign.

Return to the Big City - The city is always changing. The multitudes of people and cultures that reside within give the city a life of its own, and like all life, its seeks growth and expansion. It seems like every time you return, there is something new to discover.

This theme will include maps such as the casino, cathedral, city docks, guild hall, mages school, city gates and more.

Mixed Bag - I will choose some of the most popular comments from the Battlemap Suggestions post, as well as a few of my own favourites.

This poll will end on Wednesday August 19th

Another lovely image of the City of Sharn... not that I'm trying to influence you or anything in your creative choices. :) http://eberronunlimited.wdfiles.com/local--files/sharn/Sharn2

Ellen

Just a crazy idea: What abut a hallowe'en map for the aforementioned upcoming special day!

Xandria

Also echoing the hope for an Eberron-esque map or two! My campaign will be in Sharn eventually, and general urban cityscapes are super helpful right now since those can be a lot less common than the wilderness-type maps.

Tom, a resource if you decide to do a "city of spires and sky bridges": https://eberron.fandom.com/wiki/Sharn

Ellen

I got voted out for "a mixed bag", lol

Arri McElrath

Ditto the request for Sharn in Eberron, if the city map wins the vote. That would be amazing, and perfect for my current campaign.

Ellen

I have been having a hard time finding epic scale maps of a city. Something that when put together makes a full city. For example something like 9 maps on a very zoomed out scale. NW, N, NE, SW... ect. I want a major capital city, but all I can find is maps for a small town that has like 10 buildings. I would love to stitch them all together (with teleporters) in foundry so players could move about a truly massive map.

Brian Cobb

Its an option because it has been the most requested theme to date, shown by the fact that it is currently leading in the vote.

Out of pure curiosity: why is Big City 2.0 even an option? And another one: why folks vote for it? I mean - how many variants of sofa do you guys&gals need?

necxelos

City apartments and townhouses would be useful.

Craig Hicks

with theros out id def love to see more greek inspired locations, so i voted mixed bag :)

oceanicsurvivor

You broke the first rule! 😉

Drunemeton

I def needs some cities moving forward, and if they can be themed for different races that would be amazing! Like an elf/dwarf/orc/etc metropolis with a version for each! So we can get cool variations that we don't normally get in city maps.

The Broken Seal

I second the Sky Bridges!

BlitheringWither

The Frontier would sooo spot on with my next campaign! :o Although Big City is also tempting, there are never enough good urban maps...

A tavern with a fight club will be Nice

I desperately need a megapolis (Sharn from Ebberon / Ravnica) city map pack woth toll buildings, sky bridges and multi-level architecture

This one was tricky!! I eventually went with return to the big city, but the high seas was a really close contender!!

Megan Coppock

A tavern with a fight club ring!
