Some come to fight for glory and honour, others to seek fame and riches at the feet of the adoring crowds, but far more are dragged here in chains from their distant homes and sent to their fate, armed only with a blunt sword and rusted armour. Fodder for the 'great heroes' of the republic, and useful propaganda for their leaders.
For decades the mightiest warriors of the colosseum have been celebrated, the greatest among them immortalised in statues that adorn the arenas walls, but there are stirrings among the nameless slaves, whispers of an uprising. Soon the mighty colosseum will crumble, statues and all, signalling the start of the fall of an empire.
