It's just something thats been on my mind lately. My background is more in filmmaking (I'm 24 just finished college) and I live in the south so most of the people and artist I know are right leaning. So I was more generally confused by the concept of "most artist are left leaning" (not denying it just intrigued). Thanks for answering though it gave me a lot to think about.

2024-10-18 07:15:20 +0000 UTCHello, yeah, I almost regret even voicing my opinion today after hearing Trump say, "I will get the Jew Haters out of the country" (Attack on Freedom of Speech) LOL. Personally, I do think it's a mix of things. I studied music in college and two of my professors were very left wing and very vocal about their opinions but also very likeable and good people (This was late 2000's early 10's). I was pretty liberal at this time myself as it all made sense. I have never had a right-wing teacher ever or anybody who ever really talked to me about right wing stuff. So my guess is people look up to them and learn from them and that spreads out from there. So that is 1 part, another part would be the systematic top-down pressure from the propaganda machine. Media has been consolidated thanks to Clinton removing protections and allowing monopoly in media starting in the 90's. So it's much much easier for a Democratic Lobby to get 5 (instead of 105) CEOs/Boards of Directors to agree to really focus on hiring actors or musicians or artists that support the bills/candidates that they want them to. They prop those people up and leave the others in the dust as they control most of the jobs. So the conservative musician 90% of the time ends up going and working in something else (I'm an Engineer now with a music focus degree) or they have to figure it out on social media platforms which are not very friendly to them either (but not as bad as big media). As someone who leans left why do you think artists lean left?

Some of the people I love the most are Liberal. They are misguided, it is what it is. Chris and Derrick are amazing musicians and Vocalists. They are all very funny people with great chemistry. As a conservative person we have gotten used to having to actually listen to liberal worldview as 95% of all highly successful Actors/Muscians/Artists ECT are systematically told to either support DEMOCRATS or they will actively work to make your career not exist. So 95% of all media is liberal skewed. One example is Rotten Tomatoes - Hanna Gadsby 100% certified fresh on RT. Dave Chappelle (Possibly the greatest comedian of all time) comeback special 40% Rotten on RT. It's systematic oppression of anything that even slightly leans conservative in any way.

That was to the current liberal arbiters (MSM, Hollywood, Social media policies ECT.) as they act completely antithetical to what the word liberal means. I do love this podcast, and I like all 3 of them. That being said I disagree with them and Conservatives are the new Liberals. The modern Liberal party is the party that supports 95% of what Carlin has always HATED. He hated flag wavers because (like modern liberals) they blindly followed the orders of Big Govt. He hated Big Corpo (which liberals seem to love now for some reason), He hated the Military industrial complex (Which liberals now love for some reason). He hated big church because it squandered art and created wars. These are all of the things that MAGA people are wanting to see stopped. Other than church as big religion in America died right around the time Carlin did.

To me, it feels like we (US) need a lot more regulation to make life more tolerable, rather than wringing regular people dry so billionaires can have all the money. Definitely de-commoditize housing. Thanks for the response. I’m just more interested in what people think about actual issues, rather than being misunderstood based on a label that someone else may interpret differently.
