2023-05-13 13:12:04 +0000 UTCChris should definitely give Persona 5 Royal a shot. I don't know why people keep recommending a man's first jrpg in 2023 be a snes game. (Not that it isnt good. Just less approachable) Ease him in with a modern classic with modern design sensibilities Specifically the "Royal" version, As it features multiple quality of life improvements that make it more accessible. (And not the kind that help you "skip" the gameplay, because unlike old final fantasy, the gameplay doesn't feel like you're flipping through a table of contents.) It was the first JRPG that I played to completion. Ended up playing it twice to platinum it. And I personally think the story earns its runtime, with interesting characters, twists and changes of scenery. And it's presentation is second to none; with music to match. In short If there is a game to please someone new to jrpgs, it's probably P5R
