2021-05-07 15:11:25 +0000 UTCHey guys, I actually recovered not too long ago from body dysmorphia so maybe I can help shed a light on the issue. Dysmorphia is an obsession with a perceived flaw; for me, it was my whole body. My entire life, my body, as a petite woman, was constantly a convo topic. The comments ranged from back handed, jealous compliments to insults and it got to a point where I couldn’t distinguish the two and just hated myself. People wouldn’t stop commenting unless I covered up completely. There was a banger American dad episode about anorexia I recommend where it showed the disconnect people with dysmorphia have in their head and that’s legit what happened to me. My brain wasn’t translating the images my eyes were giving it correctly. The image I would see of myself in the mirror was not reality, it wasn’t actually me. It took therapy and a great bf to strip all of that crap away and the change it’s wild to me. The body I see when I look in the mirror now is not what I saw before. Shit legit fucks with your brain and reality. Hope that helps!
