Personally I thought it was alright and delivered on making the covenant look and feel like a genuine threat as well as how they portrayed Master Chief, the main character wasn’t much of a problem though as chief took over pretty early into the second act. Keep up the good work and hope your Christmas was grand.

The latest sort of innovation I can think of is when Architects did their djenty ass Doomsday riff but then everyone else in metalcore kinda copied it. I just think it’s a little sad that festivals are still pretty much entirely headlined by either bands from the 70’s to the 00’s or bands mimicking their styles. Mycelia (slightly deathcorish, djenty stuff combined with weird showtunie things) and VOLA (proggy djent mixed with electronics that uses 98% clean vocals) are cool as shit and pretty damn unique in my opinion.
