Mailbag Episode: Send Us Your Questions!
Added 2026-01-26 03:43:57 +0000 UTCIt's a new year and a lot has happened since our last mailbag episode, so send us any questions you have about, well, anything at all. The winter storm, the bruises on Trump's hands, the ICE occupation of Minneapolis, what we did for the holidays.
Look forward to hearing from you!
edited to add: you can send questions in the comments here, in our DMs here, or at fivefourpod@gmail.com. Thanks!

How is Indiana using state legislature specifically to reshape Indiana University according to Project 2025 goals (and how are gov Braun and IU pres Whitten connect directly to Trump) Bonus is you can connect to FIRE which has rated IU #2 (and eventually #1 I think) worst uni for free speech.

2026-01-30 01:38:08 +0000 UTCWith ICE abolition clearly being a necessity, are there many previous examples of federal agencies being abolished and/or replaced, and what is the track record of their replacements?

2026-01-29 09:40:23 +0000 UTCWhat are your opinions of Jeffrey Toobin as journalist, legal analyst, etc.? Beyond big perv energy, is he an astute commentator in any way? How is your activism changing in light of the recent murders in Minn? Any advice for those of us going out in person? Should I not be carrying phones or ID, or is irrelevant in the age of AI?

2026-01-29 06:57:53 +0000 UTCMy wife and I went to a 70s themed party and I wanted to dress as Herb Brooks from the USA Miracle on Ice game. I contended that he was a coach through the 70s and and the outfit was plaid pants and full polyester suit so it counted. My wife cited the fact that the Gold Medal game happened at the 1980 Olympics and therefore counted as 80s. So I throw myself at the mercy of the Pod. Did my costume fit the 70s prompt? Side note. We went as Quint and the Shark from Jaws in a compromise.

2026-01-28 23:38:46 +0000 UTCPeople keep saying trump is going to invoke the insurrection act to do a lot of things (cancel elections, implement martial law etc.), so: What *realistically* changes if trump invokes the insurrection act? especially considering he already makes orders that exceed his legal authority, but they often still happen?

2026-01-28 23:25:24 +0000 UTCI think there needs to be an effective way for the public to be able to apply pressure to the justices. How transparent is there current process? What even is their current process? On a previous episode I think you mentioned that John Roberts went to each justice to speak one-on-one about a per curium decision. As a non-law background person, I immediately wondered, "why would that be notable? is it not standard procedure?" Do they have to document everyone they speak to and what they spoke about regarding their decisions? Can we make them live stream it on cspan?

2026-01-28 23:20:15 +0000 UTCIs it too late to ask? I’d like to know how recent Supreme Court intervention in open lower court cases doesn’t fall afoul of the Abstention Doctrine?

2026-01-28 15:38:49 +0000 UTCI've had this question saved for several months waiting for the next mailbag, but I think it's become even more timely. How come we can have the "clear and present danger" carve out of the first amendment, but nothing like that for the second?

2026-01-28 12:18:47 +0000 UTCLet’s say Woke 2 wins a gloriously, the federal government is ours and we also even somehow have dems who are not husks and bones. What is on the top of your lists for first legal change you want to see? It could be an act of Congress, overturning a ruling, a constitutional amendment, anything you want.
