for anyone who likes these things - poems by DD!

As most of you have probably been able to gather by now, I love writing and the creative process. I write a whole lot of poetry and thought, why not share a few recent pieces

if you guys like them I might post some more or explain my process/thoughts and intent behind the pieces, but I think the charm of texts like these is the ability for the reader to relate to them in their unique way and interpret it how they see fit, without being guided by a writers intention behind it.

so do tell me what you guys think these pieces are about! I'm curious

lots of love,

DD <3

Hi! Thanks for sharing these personal poems, i'd love to see more of your work in the future. Like you said with art and poetry it's great everyone can take something meaningful from it in their own way, so i'll share what your poems got me thinking about. In your first poem you talk about women passing by the store where you work and you look at each other. It made me think about those moments you see strangers in public and you automatically have your assumptions about them based on a first impression, which could be totally different than how the person actually is, but it's the only brief impression you'll ever have of them. Sometimes you can notice people judging each other based on those assumptions. I think those reflections we have of someone else might actually reflect more of who we are than of who they are. Then i started to think specifically about how women look at (and judge) each other and how this gets influenced by the world we live in. What is socially acceptable to do and to wear, what you should look like and how you should behave, and what is not socially acceptable, and how those limitations also influence us in our own reflection and judgement of other women. How we try to navigate between on one hand the ideal of women supporting women in all aspects and on the other hand being influenced by the world we live in which causes judgement, jealousy and (self)hate. How we can get so insecure about ourselves that it can make us reflect badly unto others. This is all just generally speaking of course. Then your second poem. For me it's about no matter who you are, where you are or what you wear, you can always be the victim of someone looking at you like you're nothing more than a body. And it leaves you totally and uncomfortably vulnerable. Something in your poems just sparked me to start thinking about these things so thank you for that. I appreciate you and all the content you give us a lot.

Those are wonderful! Really liked the second one with how it came across and really made the reader feel what you were writing! Would love to also read more!
