Hunt the Storm - Week 2 Best Bit

Before the general could even process that she'd turned around, her hand was wrapping around the scabbard and pulling. With the speed she was going, the cord keeping the scabbard attached to the general's belt snapped easily. Aysel stumbled a bit, almost dropping the sword as it came free. She tugged at Sonnak's reigns, stopping the naksa in his tracks. She stared at the sword in her hands, feeling a thrum of energy almost as if the blade was coming to life at the touch of a Sa'a.

Something went flying by her, scraping painfully against her arm. Startled, Aysel's eyes snapped up to the general and the soldier behind him, that aimed a strange looking weapon in her direction. Long and thin, the solider held the weapon up to his eye as he aimed it. His finger twitched, and another projectile shot in Aysel's direction, barely missing her head as she ducked out of the way. Instead, it hit the end of her braid as her hair flew up, breaking the tie that kept her hair in place. Hair spilled out, covering much of Aysel's form as she stared in fearful awe at the soldier and the general. She clutched the sword to her chest, feeling the cool touch of magic in her veins become cold fear.

"What are you waiting for?" the general shouted at his men. "Get the sandy bitch!"

"Run, little seeker," Sel whispered in her ear. "Run!"

Aysel did just that, magic once against quickening Sonnak's steps as she urged him toward the exit. One soldier managed to get his hand on Sonnak's reigns for a brief moment before Aysel's foot in his face removed him. The small, burning projectiles flew all around her. One of them hit the ground near the cart's wheel, causing the children to scream.

And that's when Aysel stopped running.

She whirled about once more, golden eyes glowing with protective rage. Her hand rose high above her head, cool magic turning her fingertips a frosty blue-white, as if they were dipped in the most pigmented of inks. The soldiers hesitated, wondering what she was doing. The general pushed forward, shouting at his men some more before his eyes caught sight of Aysel.

"Aysel?" Kinri called cautiously.

Aysel didn't answer her, eyes focused squarely on the general. "Would you like to know what happened to your witch, general?"

The man blinked owlishly, surprised by her question. "W-what?"

"Would you like to know what happened to your witch?" Aysel repeated, feeling some cruel kind of glee.

The general snarled at her, but before he could open his mouth to shout any demands, a single drop of water landed on his pauldron. Then another. And another. He turned his gaze skyward, his face paling as he took in the enormous sphere of water that hovered above him and his men. His eyes snapped back to Aysel, and she met him with a smirk.

"I did."
