Happy Update! Battlestorms and more! (17)

Hey everyone!

A very happy update this time! The big thing being that my channel is now sustainable, thanks entirely to all 345 of you :)

Obviously this deserves a big thank you... so THANK YOU! You're making all this possible!

And there's more good news! The Crusader script is finally finished and is 75,423 words long! This may change slightly once I've started editing, and bits may get cut, but we're talking about a good 7 hours of Battlestorm. Can you handle that? Anyone planning on marathoning it?

The main question really is - how do I get Crusader done for October?? Any ideas?

Also, turns out that Operation Summer's Night's Dream (Sommernachtstraum) does have a wiki page, but it's not in English https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operatie_Sommernachtstraum

I wanted to say another thank you very much to those who voted and offered their opinions about the British regiments problem. I've decided to use "2nd Battalion of the Royal Tank Regiment" for bits, then when I think I can get away with it I'll shorten it to "2nd Battalion, Royal Tank Regiment". The majority of you thought that changing it to battalion made more sense, and I agree, so we'll see how it goes.

Now, I feel guilty because I'm really far behind when it comes to replying to people, or messaging new Patreons, which has simply stopped. The reality is I just can't keep up with the volume any more. On average I'm working 74 hours a week on this channel. I did 67 hours last week, and 90 the week before! So it's not for lack of trying. Looking to the future, perhaps I can hire someone to help edit my videos or something and free up some of my time... we'll see. In the meantime, I'll use the updates to let everyone know about the different tiers -

$1 - Everyone donating $1 or more will get access to these bi-updates, and will get their name placed at the end of videos (unless they're super-short videos or not appropriate).

$5 - Everyone at this tier or higher gets an opportunity to ask questions for the Q&A videos that (currently) come out every three weeks. The week before a Q&A video is due, I'll post on Patreon asking for questions - so please reply to those posts. The only thing I'd ask is that you keep it to the European Theatre of WW2, or a topic you think I may be able to cover. If it's a question on Japan for example, I'm probably not going to know the answer. Other than that, ask away!

$10 -  Everyone at this tier or higher gets access to the (currently) bi-weekly Map Making Tutorials. One's due tomorrow! But if you click on the tags at the left-side of my Patreon page, you should be able to filter the previous map making posts. In each update I'll link to my previous tutorials and the maps I've made so you can take a look an download from imgur.

$50 - Darren Martin currently has this tier, so I'm committed to doing a video on Courland, which I'm doing once Crusader is done. I'm fairly certain it won't be as hard as Crusader has been - since Crusader is one of the most complicated and insane battles I've ever come across. Even Stalingrad is more linear. Once Crusader and Courland are done, it's Stalingrad Stalingrad Stalingrad until that's done...

Link to my ever-growing books list (which isn't updated to include the books listed in the video, but I'll get around to it shortly) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/114GiK85MPs0v4GKm0izPj3DL2CrlJUdAantx5GQUKn8/edit?usp=sharing

And I think that's it. Any questions, let me know, and I'll do my best to reply to questions at the very least over the next couple of days. Thank you all again!

Cheers!

I have only recently discovered TIK and have been impressed with your videos. I was brought up in a rural community in Australia where many of my parents generation fought in WWII, some in North Africa. My father's cousin was one of the "Rats of Tobruk" and was mentioned in dispatches for his bravery. Our neighbour was a Spitfire pilot who earned the DFC twice in North Africa. I still have one of his handkerchiefs with a map on it so they could find their way out if shot down. My father was a tank captain in a General Grant tank, but was held in reserve in Australia awaiting the Japanese invasion. Your series has filled in the gaps and details of the many things that these old soldiers told me about "the" war. Thank You. I hope to see more videos coming from you.

Prince Bernard of Netherlands was however. Upon direct orders from Churchill. Take from this what you may but many credible witnesses from the Netherlands.Lets just say the Germans finding a glider with the plans inside seems very unlikely. But will always change my mind by a superior POV.
