It was a warm late-afternoon out by the Big Rock mountains, Alex and her traveling companion Dusty were halfway through their journey to the neighboring town of Vanya, there was a rather talented blacksmith that lived there, and Alex and Dusty both needed shiny new metal. It was a two-day trip on foot, nothing the two gals couldn’t handle, they had been on far longer trips in far worse weather conditions.
Alex and Dusty had to cut through the Big Rock mountain range to get to the town, as going around the mountains would have doubled or even tripled the length of their travels. It was far safer to travel around the mountains as if was fairly unpredictable to cut through. The area was known for bandits ambushing and robbing people of their valuables and a fair bit of dangerous wildlife, too, but the last reported incident was a long time ago, so the two felt it was safe enough to pass through.
“Look,” Alex said with a smile, pointing to a large body of water and a fair bit of flat and open area sitting in between the mountains. “There’s the lake.”
The cougar’s ears perked up and she turned to look in the direction where Alex was pointing.
“That means we’re halfway there,” Dusty responded, adjusting the pack and her bow and arrows she had slung over her shoulder. The two of them continued walking towards the lake, their boots crunching against the fine grains of dirt.
“We’ll set up camp here for the night, then and we leave at sunrise. We should get there by noon,” Dusty smiled over her shoulder towards Alex, her tail swishing slightly behind her as they got closer and closer to the lake. Alex adjusted the pack on her shoulders a little, the sword holstered at her waist, and sighed as her eyes got a better view of the lake and the mountains that surrounded it as they got closer.
They stopped right by the lake, setting their packs down on the flat dirt surface. The area they chose to set up came had a tree and a couple of big boulders that they could use to hang their items and sit on. Alex put her things down on one side, on one boulder while Dusty put hers on another.
Once they both had their things out, they got to collecting firewood for a fire. Even though the air was warm out, it could get quite cold once the sun escaped the horizon. After piling the firewood they gathered, they started the fire.
After the fire was started, Alex stood up and looked towards the lake. The water looked incredibly inviting. Turning back to look at Dusty, Alex pointed to the lake again. “Hey, Dusty? Want to go have a swim in the lake?”
Dusty looked over to the lake, then up to the sky at the sun. “Sure, we have some time before the sun goes down to cool off,” she smiled at Alex.
Alex then started to take off her clothes, starting with her boots, then pulling her shirt up over her head, unbuckling her belt and then slipping out of her pants. She then pulled off her undergarments as well, before giving Dusty a look to see if she was going to follow suit. Dusty did the same thing, pulling off her boots and then her shirt, her belt, her pants, and her underwear. They both strolled their way to the lake and waded their way into the water.
The water was moderately cool, not freezing or anything, but definitely cooler than the air around the outside of the water. The two felines waded through the water, all the way until the water was up around their shoulders. The water against their fur felt nice, and not to mention since they were skinny dipping, they were able to cool down super-fast.
Alex purred, and swam a little bit closer to the cougar, smiling. “This is nice.”
Dusty nodded, “Yes, it is..” Dusty purred too, closing her eyes and enjoying the water against her fur.
The two of them played around in the water for a fair bit, splashing each other, giving each other water piggyback rides, and picking each other up and throwing them into the water. The two big cats were having a lot of fun.
They spent a couple of hours in the water, hugging, holding hands and even giving each other kisses. It turns out, Alex and Dusty were probably more than just traveling companions.
Their lips pressed together, their noses touched, and their tongues intertwined. Their hands also went all over each other as well. Groping, cupping, and feeling one another as they splashed around in the lake.
Wading their way out of the water and back to shore, Alex and Dusty held hands. They both walked back up to their camp where the little fire they had started was giving off warm yellow light.
They both sat down in front of the fire to dry their fur off. Dusty sat down with her knees hugged to her chest, while Alex sat down with her legs over each other. The two of them started chatting about things they liked, things they didn’t like, and things that they wanted to do in the future. Alex had a smile spread across her face, as did Dusty.
The sun had slipped away from them, leaving the sky a dark purple hue with white sparkling specks of stars scattered across the entire sky. It was a beautiful sight to behold, however; neither of the two felines were looking at it. Instead, they were looking at each other.
“Can you teach me how to shoot arrows one day?” Alex asked, head tilted to the side.
Dusty nodded, and with very little hesitation, she replied. “Yeah! As long as you teach me how to use a sword the way you do,” she winked.
They both laughed and purred as they chatted some more by the fire. If they kept chatting for too long, they wouldn’t be getting any sleep, but Alex had no problem with that at all, she could trek the rest of the way there a little sleep deprived, talking to Dusty was a lot better than getting some sleep, anyway.
