Little late, but with all the talk of opera, I actually saw this performed by our city opera. I’ve watched this version many times, but that’s the only time I’ve seen it live. It was right in their wheelhouse as you’ve noted. Though sitting next to some regular opera goers who had no idea what they were going into made the show all the more entertaining! Their reactions were amazing, small, but amazing!

When you realized it is when the audience is getting confirmation that Sweeney Todd is not his real name, he used to be Benjamin Barker, the barber.

2025-04-08 18:02:52 +0000 UTCSomeone probably told you, but if you ever watched murder she wrote, mrs Lovett is played by the star of that (and general icon) Angela Lansbury in this version (Angela is my personal favorite Mrs Lovett, though Patti is great too).
