Wow. I now view Hamilton in a TOTALLY different light. I don't know anymore.

My favorite moment yet is watching you freaking out about the music knowing you didn't pay attention to what they were singing about LOL - it was indeed nasty sir...

One of the things that I like best about this show is that they portray Hamilton as a very multi-dimensional person. He's brilliant and self-destructive, insecure and arrogant, courageous and deeply flawed. It's really an amazing portrayal.

Remember how they ended the first song of the first act: (Daveed and Oak) We fought with him! ... (Washington) Me, I trusted him (Philippa, Renee and Jasmine) Me, I loved him! Lafayette and Hercules fought with (alongside) Hamilton. Jefferson and Madison fought with (against) him. Jasmine plays Peggy and Maria Reynolds, with whom Hamilton has his affair.

To me, this show is like Shakespeare. It’s DEEP. Based on actual biographies, it portrays people as complex and sometimes flawed beings. Unlike a lot of today’s pop culture, no one is all good or all bad. And it kind of depends on who’s telling the story. Personally, I prefer Act 1, and rate some of those songs amongst the best of the piece. But, then, I’ve listened to them hundreds of times by now. It’s a lot to take in on the first listen. And there are some very special treats still to come.

the actor playing maria also played peggy! Also maria was forced into it by james reynolds so he wouldnt abuse her daughter ☹️

So I try to avoid any spoiler comments just in case, even casting because that info COULD be a spoiler. I will think WHY did they double cast, and the rabbit hole that could follow. Your comments are super helpful! I just did parts 7 and 8 and honestly wish I had this info LOL

Remember, at the time, everyone wrote to everyone. People would even send multiple letters a day. Angelica Schuyler, who was from a prosperous family and was well known in New York elite, would have done a lot of correspondence and left many letters of historical importance behind. Her father was a general in the Revolutionary War and a U.S. Senator. In the introduction song “The Schuyler Sisters”, they establish her interest in politics. IRL she corresponded not just with Hamilton, but with Washington, Jefferson, and Lafayette.

I thought someone told you they used double casting? Four main actors play one role in Act 1 and a different one in Act 2. Daveed Diggs = LaFayette + Jefferson Oak = Hercules Mulligan + James Madison Anthony Ramos = John Laurens + Phillp Hamilton Jasmine Cephas-Jones = Peggy + Maria Reynolds
