Dopamine is a chemical of pleasure-driven motivation (desire) that, unlike the conscious-subconscious mind, doesn't recognize your goals. It just plays a simple role: establish an environment in the body to help you achieve a reward. Once you get the reward, dopamine levels drop drastically. This neurotransmitter is a strong determinant of life success (in the ancient times meant survival), which doesn't come down to its high concentration, but channeled & efficient activity towards one's ultimate goal.
Correspondingly, each smallest surge of dopamine resulting from "easy rewards," such as browsing cockamamie posts on social media, will be followed by its drop, and make your body strive for more easy rewards, e.g., next post or another video. In such a case, instead of using dopamine to serve your goals, it will become strictly linked to this particular activity, resulting in addiction and repressing your actual needs. Eventually, leading to boredom, poor concentration, brain fog, depressive states, and reduced effectiveness of your work.
Make all the smallest dopamine-releasing tasks an actual reward for your good work, not an obvious, easy-going part of your day. At the end of the day, an intense workout, cleaning up your car, reading a book, and working on self-improvement will become astonishingly appealing tasks again.
