Hello,

I hope you all had great Holidays. The new year is starting with a lot of work here but I want to take a few minutes to talk about a few things.

First I want to express my gratitude for your continued support through 2023 even tho my activity was pretty low. I got most of the Citra release wrapped up and we can expect a lot more updates for it through 2024, a bit bummed with myself though that I didn't get to create the official public release forum posts yet after spending quite some time drafting them, got side tracked as usual on more optimizations until real life hit again...

I hope to finish the upstreaming of PPSSPP in the first half of 2024, it has come a long way and I want to express a big thanks to the PPSSPP Team helping me over the years refining and maintaining the port and generally being helpful.

Last year I've been contracted to work on a bunch of game releases from various consoles and in the coming months (after NDA's lift) I will be able to talk about the process it took for each of the games and the difficulties that come with emulation-based game re-releases/remasters and limitations imposed on these days (looking at you, red-cross).

The first Post will be about Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown, their Asset System (PMP), what it took to reverse engineer it and the pain of custom compression routines.

I've also been exploring new AOT recompilation techniques using Remill, so far it looks very promising. If things work out I might be able to produce a hagi-compatible output so we may be able to run some gamecube games in the future. I also added MIPS support for Remill and explore it right now for N64 too (for decompilation and emulation/performance purposes in Mupen).

Its a mostly unexplored avenue in emulation, only RPCS3 (not sure if AOT tho) and Hagi use this mechanism, so I hope bringing some state of the art techniques to some public emulators will also give people a new wave of creativity and portability (to future CPU archs) as well as commercial game remasters.

Thats it for now, see you around on Discord.

Ps: Maybe time to fix AvP finally? I didnt forget :P
