Hi Folks,
A shorter update this week because frankly you are mostly aware of what I've been up to for the bulk of the last week. That of course was preparing and releasing part one of chapter 7. The rest of the week has been spent on one render heavy scene. I lost a couple of days rendering because I'm a dumbass :) I needed to create a new character and I built a bunch of scenes with them in it. Then I started to look at the character a little closer and thought they looked familiar. I checked which base model I used (for most of the extra characters I tend to blend in 2 models to a base model, to give them uniqueness, the two protags are a little more involved than that though). Turns out that there was another character I had used previously with almost the exact same blend and the same base model. Could I pass them off as siblings or did I need to redo? I went for the latter. I'm caught back up now, but that lost at least a couple of days in rendering time. Right now I'm on the final step for that render heavy scene and I'll probably finish it today or overnight.
I'm not going to put any spoilers in here for Chapter 7 but I hope those that played it, enjoyed it. As ever I'm happy to receive any feedback you might have and try to answer some questions but remember I won't give away the up coming plot and may even lie to you a little if I have to in terms of where the story is going :)
The plan I have in my mind right now is that Chapter 7 and 8 will be big chapters, while chapter 9 will be a little smaller and chapter 10 smaller still. This may change, Chapter 8 in particular has a lot I want to cram into it so I may end up splitting some of that off to 9 or even create a new chapter altogether.
Away from development. I've put Chapter 6 on sale on Itch now and it's been doing pretty well.
Steam have now approved my game build. The initial release there will be to the end of Chapter 6, I will only release full chapters to Steam, so the next update will be when chapter 7 is complete. So Patreon is still the place to get the most recent releases. Steam requires that your game stays on "Coming Soon" for a certain time period, so that delays the date at which I can release, not totally a bad thing because Steam's Spring sale starts today anyway and that would mess with the game's exposure. The release date is therefore set right now at March 23rd, that's assuming I don't mess up anything in terms of how to release.
It's snowing here again this morning and -10c, if anyone ever tries to convince you the spring exists in Canada, don't listen to them :) Anyway have a great weekend folks and thanks as always for your continued fantastic support.
