2019-07-27 17:15:27 +0000 UTCI'm not sure that "fascist" is an accurate descriptor, but you are right about the whole "back to nature," bucolic English thing as being from a bad place. It's basically from old-timey aristocrats, who had the luxury to enjoy nature on their terms, complaining about all those terrible factories that started going up in the Industrial Era messing up the quality of all the land they owned and the view from their manor houses. So it's a ruling class concern for nature not in it's own ability to sustain life, but purely for their capacity to take leisure in it.
