Watch Us Watch | The Last of Us | Season 2 - Episode 7

The Not-So-Last of Us

I didn't love season 1 of The Last of Us like other people did, but I enjoyed it enough that I'm curious what season 2 has in store. Right outta the gate, they've added Cutie-I-Wouldn't-Mind-Seeing-On-Screen Kaitlyn Dever to keep me interested! But will it be enough to counter my disinterest in Joel & Ellie? Or maybe they've actually improved their story / relationship?? If not... hey, at least this season is shorter!

Some of the confusing editing and plot threads that went nowhere will make more sense once next season contextualizes what Abby was doing over the last three days. That’s why they ended with the “day one” teaser. It was much less jarring in the game, since you can just immediately continue the story without waiting two more years. You’ll definitely want a recap before season 3.

I've heard that season 3 is a season all about Abbey. Most unnecessary thing I've ever heard.

I am pretty mixed on the season overall, you're definitely not alone in feeling the editing and pacing was weird in this finale. As a huge fan of the games, I have to say looking back on Ellie's portion of the game, there really isn't a whole lot of interesting plot that happens. I do think it's a really tough adaptation, and the unconventional structure of the game just adds to that. I will say that I'm optimistic for season 3 and I have a feeling you'll enjoy it more, because Abby's section is just the more interesting part of the game, and you get way more Kaitlyn and way more Jeffrey Wright.

My only question for this episode is, why did they keep Ellie's "NO NO NO NO NO" and cut it off there instead of just cutting it off on Abby's line? Made it look like a tiktok cut-off scream joke video, so odd

I really liked the finale, it just feels like it should have been like 20 minutes longer. they needed more time to let certain things marinate a bite more, like Ellie killing the pregnant woman, exploring more of the conflict between her and Jesse, it just felt very rushed. still enjoyed the season as a whole, and VERY much looking forward to season 3 focusing on Kaitlyn Dever as Abby

The ending of this season I feel like was 100% confusing for only TV viewers. Totally think they should've pulled a stranger things and done a part 1 and part 2 season, I normally hate that but it makes sense for this story.

we got kaitlyn baited!

Pretty Much It

i recognize my bias having jumped into season 2 with no context, but i gotta say, this really is a bit of a strange show. also, not nearly enough kaitlyn dever in this episode

The thing that sucks about being such a die-hard fan of the games is that I’m CLEARLY biased. I didn't mind season one, I thought it was fine. But this season was not it for me in a lot of ways. Some minor changes were fine, but there's I lot I disagree with. The thing that makes me sad is that lots of people won’t ever know the game version. They'll only know the show. And that sucks to hear because the games are so good. I'd rather watch a movie compilation edit of the game cutscenes than rewatch the show lmao they're cinematic enough already, but I don't agree with the hate the actors are apparently getting. Idk if I’ll watch season 3 on my own, but I’ll watch with the commentary tracks to make it a little easier for me lol
