Lorelei's death did seem to be inevitable with the reckless way she was going after him. Objectively, no I don't think she had it coming either. Just to rebut one incorrect assertion in comparing them. Even though the circumstances and motives were significantly different. Technically Patrick has directly killed two people. One of those kills was a premeditated murder. Even if not found guilty in a court of law. The other was in defence of another, to protect Lisbon.
