It's that generic 101 failsafe writing style for these types of shows. These are often written by a writing room of voices, and influenced by executives ect ect. Stronger consistent writing, in my view, comes from either a narrower / single voice or one not as affected by a committee of suits and focus groups, blar blar blar. I agree, it gets extremely tedious and is often very contrived and follows some pretty stereotypical ideas of character dynamics. Ya see. Castle isn't excused from being so openly jealous, as it isn't an attractive quality. He probably 'should' be more secure in himself. As that's the stem of jealousy. It's not the lack of trust you have in your partner. As we know. It's the rational and irrational fear that you are not enough. The cliché is why don't you trust me. The reality is, Beckett has been written as this impressive person with many attractive qualities. To help in drawing an immediate audience, they have cast the actress Stana Katic. The unavoidable reality is by standard ideas of beauty, they can't ignore that her character is going to draw a lot of unwanted attention of both sleazy and nice guys. Their choice as writers to draw artificial conflict out of this is predictable and a little nauseating in my view. We as an audience become unnecessarily frustrated when they have written Kate in a way where she isn't more appropriately prompt at rebuking an advance like this. This becomes about drawing drama and not serving what the established character would be doing. We are then put in a situation where we are having to question their character choices against previous ideas if their established traits.
