They really went overboard with the references here - as an example: - The guy at the beginning with the I ❤️Richard Castle t-shirt is Jonathan Frakes, aka Commander William Riker from Star Trek: The Next Generation (and director of the episode), with the "how far they've fallen" line implying that it is actually him at the convention - The Nebula 9 show is a thinly veiled 'homage' to Firefly, e.g. cancelled after a dozen episodes, Captain Max Reynard vs Captain Mal Reynolds, etc. - The guy making the props is Armin Shimerman, who is indeed Principle Synder from Buffy, but sci-fi fans know him as Quark from Star Trek: Deep Space 9 - Castle directly references an line from TNG when he's on the bridge in the captain's chair (though a lot of people think he's 'parodying' William Shatner There's more, but those are a few of the bigger ones.
