Great explanation about why Exit Music was right for the end scenes. The episode title, Bicameral Mind, references a theory in classical psychology, which posits that prehistoric human self-awareness was thought to come from a two-chambered state (camera is Latin for chamber). The theory suggests that the ancient religions that existed before humans were fully conscious were once part of a cognitive framework in which our mental functions were divided between one part of the brain which appeared to be "speaking" to worshippers as an external "divine voice", and a second part which listens and obeys. The bicameral mind theory has been largely debunked as pseudoscience. It can't account for definitive proof of ancient human consciousness as given in epic stories like Gilgamesh.
