THE MALE IN THE MAIL

It was a strange response from the killer. If we look at it from a slight mirroring narrative viewpoint. I thought it played to the idea that his precieved core identity had been fundamentally challenged by excepting what he had done. Not wanting to be forever defined by this acts. In the way that he is, will and should be. He was desperately seeking some absolution from his heinous acts. But it took more that 5 minutes to butcher his victim and desecrate his remains. He of course was wrong about himself. But sometimes, ones own sense of identity doesn't match who they are under and after particular circumstances. We might see some narratively relevant similarities and superstitions on identity, with Booth's father. Some people don't survive war in the same way. We see three generations of men in the Booth family, all seeing conflict while serving in the armed forces. The audience considering two of the three to be good men. Booth's father, a purple heart recipient, that Seeley finds in the box. This symbolises and exposes us to one aspect of his character. He obviously failed himself and his family to be the father and person that wanted to be. Never asking Seeley for forgiveness, because he doesn't feel he deserves that. He leaves him items that he hopes perhaps show him and us he was not a total monster that his actions had defined him as.

Death Lego

Booth centered episodes always get me. He keeps everything so close to the chest, always breaks me down when he shows his emotions.
