In the last episode Donna tells her mom she had a miscarriage but we dont see it. She was I think happy where her family was, excited about the work she was doing and also just didnt want a third child. At the end of that episode you see her and Cameron outside of Planned Parenthood showing us that she didnt have a miscarriage but decided to have an abortion. I think she just wanted to talk with her mom about an important thing that was affecting her without the stigma attached.
