I never gravitated towards watching this. Partly because I was unfortunately pretty underwhelmed by the 70's film that it's based on. At least when I watched it in my 20s. But also because I have never been able to really appreciate gratuitous depiction porn. Derived from the unoriginal expression of rich people's perversions and life's challengeless boredom. Then there's the other overdone narrative drivers. Technology too far, playing God, capitalist corruption. Being the harbingers of our own downfall. Destined to destroy ourselves. The 'inevitable tragedy' porn that seems to dominate popular modern sci-fi expression. However... There are some great names in this, and initially some solid performances. So I'm hoping that there is going to be way more to it than my low expectations in the development and expressions of ideas. Maybe, like you, I'm guessing, that we share in the need of a routine, of watching a show on more of a schedule. And the sharing of a dialogue. You talk to us and we talk back to you when watching. Finally, I understand why actors would gravitate towards doing shows like this. As aren't they doing something a little similar to the players in the game. But obviously less subversive and not playing to one's own individual desires for social escapism. Oh and also. There are about three - four terms for types of artificial lifeform creations, that I can think of. Robot, Android and Cyborg, then maybe droids. A robot is maybe best defined as fully mechanical lifeform and can be varied in their design. An android is too, a fully mechanical lifeform. But made to be more anatomically human, or humanoid, or perhaps emulate an existing lifeform. Then there is the probably underused Cyborg, when people arbitrarily describe things as a Robot. No shade, you were rightly just asking the question. So a Cyborg is the correct term for a lifeform that is a composite of mechanical and organic components. Then droid is basically a non anatomical robot I guess. So how we may choose to define these lifeforms will be dependent on if their flesh like coverings are made or grown perhaps. To technically be a Cyborg, I think, they have to have parts that are made more so by the processes of nature.
