As the story of Bleach is a conflict of religions. The Shinigami are representations of Shinto-Buddhsit-Daoist elements of philosophy/religion. The Quincies represent the Western view of the world. I.e Gnosticism/Abrahamic religion. It's why the Quincies also have a Nazi theme to them as well if you didn't already notice. The whole point of this arc is that Yhwach wants the world to be like what you saw in the flashbacks in this episode. That primorial world that cosmic ontological ocean of existence and soul. No boundaries (different worlds and laws) and thus no life or death. Which means no pain or suffering. Ywach wants the world created by the ancestors to the 5 grand royal families to be severed and destroyed since it's the source of what he views as evil, pain, suffering and sin. This makes sense when you look at the world in Bleach. You have 3 realms all living in fear of death. To understand fully, you have to do literary analysis and look at Eastern Philosophy In the East, specifically in terms of Buddhism, the primary struggle facing people is the cultivation of self and freeing themselves from the cycle of samsara. The Soul reapers are trying to maintain the cycle of Samara from Buddhism which is responsible for the wheel of life, death and reincarnation. It’s a battle for the best possible worlds
