Remember that Meruem gets stronger when he eats, so it makes sense that he got so much power from consuming Pouf and Youpi, the pinnacle of Ants after the King. Also he said he couldnβt eat anything else because they had so much Nen. Similar to when he first ate a nen user, and couldnβt eat regular humans
