A few years ago I got to fire a 40mm bofors, what amazed me was how much crud and smoke there was out of the barrels, I'm surprised anyone ever hit anything with them!

I have always been amazed how the AA guns, such as the Bofers, can get so much "lead in the air". Attached is a link to a picture of ammo being passed up from a magazine. Also, I wondered why there were only four rounds per clip. Ergonomics, no doubt. http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNUS_4cm-56_mk12.php

It would be hard to stand on that bridge and not imagine that you are closing with Central Force off Samar at a combined 60 knots and thinking, "I am so dead."

Great job, Drach. I watched The Sullivans piece immediately on YouTube, and this is a great companion. While I love the information you give and your narration, absorbing the facts sometimes makes it harder to process the visual aspects of just being there. This unnarrated, beautifully shot companion is a wonderful treat and is much appreciated.

Interesting. It helps me get a feel for my late grandfathers service during WWII on a Fletcher (USS Stanley DD-478). Thanks.
