So, dear Patron's, if you've seen any of the Fun Friday videos where I upload an album you'll know Squarespace has a 40MB limit per photo on uploads. Whilst I will get around to downscaling the oversized photos eventually, the photos in question are 600DPI scans of larger pictures and so it seems a shame that no-one will get to enjoy them in their full glory and resolution.

Thus, my new idea, each week, I'll upload a different 40MB+ image for your perusal, the advantage of the full size scan being that you should be able to zoom in for (reasonably, depending on the focus of the original photographer) clear details of smaller parts of ships that would normally only be a few pixels on more regular size photos.

Let me know if you think this is a good idea, starting this week with Admiral Fisher's former flagship, the 2nd class pre-dreadnought battleship HMS Renown.

Yes worth a try

If my research is correct, this would be HMS Renown (1895) ?

Important to know: right-click -> open image in new tab does NOT show you the high resolution image. You must click on the image (cursor is magnifying lens), wait for it to load, the right-click -> save image as (you'll see it saves as PNG which is high quality lossless)

I did a test and conversion with TIFF and LZW compression reduced it to 45MB, so still not under the 40MB limit.
