2021-02-20 14:20:48 +0000 UTCI recall reading years ago that late in WWII Japanese ships based in the East Indies were sometimes burning unrefined crude oil as bunker fuel due to lack of refinery capacity. They had a couple of cruisers suffer explosions due to the volatile components of the crude oil getting loose in the ships.
