Q&A I was reading N.A.M. Rodger's book "The Wooden World" and found it interesting that he stated that Royal navy sailors could strike (or mutiny) under certain conditions. Yet we have the Spithead and Nore mutinies where 29 sailors were hung. Why the change? I also note that he states that often capital punishment was often prescribed as punishment as it was more likely than not to be carried out and as a result was actually less drastic than certain flogging punishments..

Lets do what we can to get Amazon back to selling books and out of every other corner of your life!

Could you also please recommend the SINGLE best book for gaining a general awareness of the evolution if naval warfare

Q&A: During your recent video on the Guadalcanal Campaign (Santa Cruz (IJN 2 : 2 USN)) you included some footage of a scout float plane being recovered by a US battleship or cruiser. This was fascinating as I'd not previously thought thru how this was done. Could you please do a walkthru (or even better a video) on the operations of scout planes from non-carrier warships? How they were launched & recovered, their various roles, and effectiveness?

Friedman’s books are incredible.

As for live stream, the interaction with the chat group is good, although set up the group of trusted administrators first to clear out the bad stuff and nonsense. So yes to more live stream.

Yes to the book list!

Hypnoticflame

I think a recommended book list would enhance your site. I would certainly use it as a reference for book purchases. As far as the chat questions go, I think splitting them off into a separate session would at least shorten the length of time you need to talk in one stretch, protecting your voice, which is now a very important tool in your earning a living.

Book list, please. I'm thoroughly enjoying Massie's Dreadnought which I'm reading on a recommendation in one of your videos.

With German pronunciations an ei or ie is pronounced as the second letter.

A lot of old school naval officers felt that an open bridge gave them a better "feel" of the ship and it's sailing attitude as well as a better awareness of what was happening. regards

John Hargreaves

A book list including a "... for dummies" section on general topics as gunnery, fire control, propulsion, ship handling and the like would be great
