Q&A: Are there any other known cases of ships which successfully or unsuccessfully pulled off a stunt similar to that of HNMLS Abraham Crijnssen in Surabaya?

Questions about a couple of ongoing series. 1) The destroyer development series seems to be missing the WWI years? Part 1 ended 1914 and Part 2 started 1918. 2) Has Part 2 of the aircraft carrier development series been posted? I seem to recall it came out a couple of months ago but can't find it in the playlists.

Q&A just a little bit of a another timeline. What would have happened if the Bismarck decided to sail over to the US since it was still technically neutral and for whatever reason the US wouldn't impound it the next question would be where would it go.

Indeed. We pulled two out of the water that got blown off of the Constellation back in '89. It wasn't pulling out pilots but rather flight crew that were blown off the deck from jet wash.

Thank you Uncle Drach! My household (in California) has been self-quarantined for 10 days; two sick, one exposed. I really needed your information and humor.

I can't speak for the British Navy, or current US practices, but as late as 1980 American carriers conducting flight ops routinely had a destroyer-type ship in "plane guard station," about a thousand yards on the starboard quarter of the carrier - in line with the angled flight deck. No destroyer would ever put itself directly in front of a carrier, day or night. (The Melbourne - Evans collision had nothing to do with plane guard duties).

Despite a worldwide pandemic, the Drydock remains open. Knighthood being prepared as we speak..

No guns I suspect the ramming of ships would come back into fashion. Regards

Drach: Trafalgar and Astute and newer are not pump jets; they are a step beyond that and are still classified even to our allies. kind regards (retired subject matter expert on stealth & propulsion to the Royal Navy/MoD).

Imagine the looters approach drachs home they break in, a metal clank is heard and they flea in terror as a man in full plate charges after them
